While traditional K-12 education systems are designed to measure knowledge and ability, maker projects are playful, hands-on, and open-ended, and allow students to use newly acquired skills to create functional inventions. A maker project also encourages students to ask questions and to develop rich learning experiences that are hard to quantify on a test.
